Luciano Bodrato’s laboratory was born in Genoa in 1943. It was a small shop of great ambitions, opened in the back of the district cafe. In the 70’s the activity evolves to moving towards Piedmont, at Capriata d’Orba, the birthplace of Luciano and the main confectionery pole of the North-West of Italy. This area, of renewned culinary traditions, encouraged the company to refine the art of making chocolate and fostered its development over the decades. The turning point takes place in 2001 when Bergaglio’s family, also hailing from Capriata, acquires Bodrato’s workshop. Thanks to their innovative capabilities, the new owners succeed in combining ancient and highly esteemed recipes with new ideas, not only for the so called art of making chocolate, but also for the strong will of turning a small workshop into a renowned chocolate factory of high standards. In 2014, in fact, the ancient laboratory finds its natural and final location in Novi Ligure, the Capital of Chocolate. A new and modern workshop of 1500 m2 which, respecting the highest quality standards of production, is totally sustainable with photovoltaic panels, heat exchangers and heat insulation. Modern technologies allow the lab to save energy and reset the CO2 emissions in the environment.
